The Avril Earl Centre
– for the joy of performing

At The Centre, we pride ourselves on providing the best standard of dance and drama training. We offer classes in ballet, tap, modern, and classical greek using the internationally recognised ISTD syllabus. We also offer a range of coaching classes, body conditioning and non syllabus jazz.

We have a thriving drama department where we give pupils a chance to experience the full range of theatrical styles from musical theatre to improvisation. As well as providing regular classes we also offer one-to-one private tuition and optional entry into LAMDA acting, musical theatre and verse and prose exams.

Students of an appropriate age, are also offered the opportunity to take part in the annual Guernsey Speech & Drama and Music Eisteddfods, and the biennial Guernsey Dance Festival - consistently achieving success in both.

At The Centre, students achieving the highest technical and performance standard may audition to join the competition team. The team travels off island to competitions in Jersey and the UK.

Music to our ears

  • "My daughter and husband attend the Sunday Introduction to Dance classes with Miss Emma and love it. It really is a time for them to enjoy together which they both look forward to. Emma is wonderful with them all and lets each child progress at their own pace whilst complimenting them. I got to watch their end of term session and invited the grandparents along to watch too so the whole family could get involved in the dance life."

  • "From a young age, the dance school instilled confidence and a sense of belonging in me. As well as developing the technique needed to be a dancer, I learned to develop skills such as commitment, responsibility and teamwork. Now I am a mum myself, it’s a joy to see my own children develop as dancers and performers in this way, thanks to the dedication of the Avril Earl team."

  • "My daughter absolutely loves dancing at Avril Earl Centre, it is her second home! The teachers are all lovely and support the children, and not just in their lessons, but in so many aspects of their lives. Not only are the children having a tremendous amount of fun but they also learn so much from the experiences and opportunities they are given, particularly through competitions and exams."

  • "Both my sons attended Avril Earl from a very young age and had many years of incredible experiences in dance and acting performing locally, nationally and internationally. The school nurtures a camaraderie and community amongst not only the students, but the parents too, that is a joy to be a part of and instils a humility in them that is so valuable. They have a very inclusive ethos and everyone gets the same attention. My eldest son, now in his thirties, still has the same 3 best friends that he met in Theatre School classes at Avril Earl Centre when he was growing up."
